Therapy with Dr. Carter

Hello and welcome! Seeking help and deciding to begin therapy is a difficult decision, requiring courage, strength, and vulnerability. My goal as a clinician is to cultivate an inclusive, empowering, and supportive space that is conducive to your growth and healing. I desire to connect with individuals challenged by their current circumstances to enrich lives, strengthen relationships, and build healthy identities. I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities based on your individual needs and goals and specialize in working with youth (ages 8-18) and families; however, I also offer counseling for young adults and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stressful life transitions, low self-esteem, trauma, or grief and loss, I am here to help and support you through your journey of growth and healing through mindfulness meditation, reflection, processing, and skill-building.

About Dr. Rona Carter

I am a limited licensed psychologist (LLP) with experience working with youth (ages 8 to 18) and families providing individual and group therapy, as well as young adults. I earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in psychology and a PhD. in applied developmental psychology from Florida International University. I am also a certified yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance. My clinical training and experience have focused on anxiety, depression, everyday stress, relationship concerns, biological transitions (e.g., puberty), and identity exploration and development. While I have experience working with youth and their families, I have a strong passion to support and empower young adults and members of the LGBTQ+ community as they separate from their families of origin, cultivate a healthy identity, and begin to create their own journey. It’s in these moments that we are best able to identify past patterns that no longer serve us. It is exciting to be part of these paths to self-discovery and independence. I am incredibly invested in my work and am committed to lifelong holistic learning.
