What do you specialize in?
I specialize in Trauma, anxiety, eating disorders and adolescent treatment.
What made you want to become a therapist?
I, unfortunately, went through a lot of trauma as a child and some additional difficult experiences as a young adult. However, I made it through all of those things and actually became a very successful person, in how I define success. I wanted to dedicate my life and career to helping others not only get through their hardships, but also to thrive in their lives. I wanted to focus on building resilience in my surrounding community.
What can clients expect when they first come to therapy? What is a typical therapy session like with you?
People can expect a very chill and informal environment. There is no pressure to disclose anything that they aren’t ready for and it really should be a time for us to get to know one another and make sure that we feel it is a good fit. Clients can expect to go over their intake paperwork and talk about expectations for their needs.
How have you seen therapy be helpful to your clients?
Anyone who comes to therapy and is even curious about making some changes in their lives can benefit from therapy. I really love seeing people’s a-ha moment and they realize there is another option for most things.
What do you think are the most important considerations when looking for a therapist?
That clients feel comfortable and feel like they are being heard. Be prepared to meet with someone at least 4 times, but I would caution that 8-10 sessions gives you a better idea if that relationship is the right fit.
What do you hope your clients walk away with?
Empowerment. A sense of self.
