Counseling with Lauren Proux, LMSW

PRONOUNS: SHE/HER

You have to know the past to understand the present.

—Carl Sagan

Unresolved concerns can affect us in ways we might not realize. Perhaps you have felt afflicted with uncertainty, sadness, and regret or maybe you are seeking greater self-awareness. My hope is that, through counseling, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself that will further develop your resilience, motivation for change, and growth. I work within a Psychodynamic framework when considering how early experiences and beliefs created patterns over time. Understanding the formation of these patterns can help you to gain insight into your life and present-day concerns.

In addition, I utilize evidence-based treatment approaches that will encourage you to identify and replace dysfunctional thought patterns, transform the relationship with your thoughts and feelings, consider how external forces—including family and social dynamics—have impacted you, and practice mindfulness techniques to reduce distress. I strive to create an environment in which you feel safe expressing your authentic self.
