In the state of Michigan, Limited Licensed Professional Counselors (LLPCs) are required to receive regular supervision from a qualified LPC until they apply for full licensure. They must complete 3,000 hours of post-degree mental health counseling in no less than a two-year period, and at least 100 of those hours must be spent face-to-face with their qualified supervisor. Supervision is a collaborative process between the supervisee and their supervisor, meant to offer LLPCs support and guidance throughout their post-academic training.
