My passion is to walk alongside my clients on their journey toward personal growth, improved relationships, and freedom from anxiety and depression.

About Tim Wilkins

Tim Wilkins, PhD, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Identity Counseling Psychology, PLLC in Ann Arbor, MI. Tim provides services in the areas of Individual Counseling, Relationship Counseling, Career Counseling, and Psychological Assessments. Tim works with clients who are coping with loss, dealing with anxiety and depression, coping with physical illness, dealing with relationship issues, experiencing life transitions/adjustments, or dealing with identity issues. Tim counsels from Existential, Cognitive-Behavioral, Exposure-Based, Emotionally-Focused, and Psychodynamic theoretical frameworks. Tim helps clients explore inner conflict, reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms, discover or rediscover meaning in the context of their life, and helps clients to harmonize their personal identity, social identity, and self-concept. Tim works with clients who experience anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life adjustments, and clients who are searching for greater balance and overall wellness in life. 

Education & Credentials 

Tim Wilkins received his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Michigan, a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. Tim is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. License #6401015474.

Tim is passionate about helping people identify and explore what is holding them back and desires to assist them on their journey toward achieving their goals. In therapy, Tim tailors his counseling style based on the client’s needs. Tim works from Existential, Cognitive-Behavioral, Emotionally Focused, and Psychodynamic theoretical frameworks.

Tim believes it is important to focus on meaning in the context of one’s life, as well as how people are affected physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually by their struggles. Tim sees value in exploring with his clients the mind-body interaction. This includes identifying where emotions may be stuck in the body and working methods to release them in a healthy way. Tim offers both in-person counseling and online counseling.
