1. What is your specialty?

My specialty is working with adolescents and young adults who have experienced different forms of trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, and relationship issues.

2. What made you want to become a therapist?

I first became interested in counseling after I attended my own counseling growing up. I found therapy to be very helpful and monumental in my own personal healing journey. I understand how truly powerful it can be to have someone encouraging and supporting you during your most difficult moments. I strive to be that support system for someone, helping my clients to build the tools necessary to handle any challenges life may throw their way.

3. What can clients expect when they first come to therapy? What is a typical therapy session like with you?

My clients can expect to find a safe place where they can feel open and comfortable talking about difficult and sometimes painful topics. My clients will not be judged or discriminated against for any reason and will always be welcomed to share as much as they feel comfortable with. My clients can expect to set collaborative counseling goals with me so that we will have an understanding of what they want to get out of our time together and where they see themselves headed. A session with me is a free-flowing dialogue, allowing clients to direct the conversation but also to be guided towards achieving their treatment objectives.

4. How have you seen therapy be helpful to your clients?

I have seen my therapy offer a safe place for clients to explore and work through difficult past and current experiences. By having a strong therapeutic bond with my clients, it gives them the opportunity to learn skills and insight into their own mental health concerns.

5. What do you think are the most important considerations when looking for a therapist?

To me, the first thing a person should consider when looking for a therapist is finding someone that has the proper education and tools necessary to help you with your own personal therapy needs. I believe one of the most important considerations in finding a counselor is identifying someone with whom you can have a trusting and open therapeutic relationship. I think it is very important for a client to feel comfortable with their counselor and for the counselor to be non-judgmental and compassionate about their work. A client should be able to voice any questions or concerns to their counselor and feel that they are on the right path towards healing.

6. What do you hope your clients walk away with?

I hope my clients walk away with a new perspective on life and a more positive outlook on their future. It is my hope that my clients become more aware of their own skills and abilities, allowing them to use these tools to overcome challenges of the past, present, and future.
