1. What is your specialty?

Person-centered approach, humanistic approach, and cognitive behavioral approach.

2. What made you want to become a therapist?

I have always liked helping people move forward and watch them succeed. My plan was always to be in a medical field working with people. After experiencing some difficulties in my own life and going through therapy, I found out that I would like to pay it forward to help others in a similar way. I came to a realization that counseling is my passion while working at an addiction clinic and made the decision to become a counselor.

3. What can clients expect when they first come to therapy? What is a typical therapy session like with you?

I believe the most important aspect of the counseling process is making sure that we have a strong client-counselor relationship. You can expect a fully safe environment and comforting atmosphere. I make sure that I always let my clients know that I am fully welcoming any feedback to make sure their counseling experience is beneficial to them.

4. How have you seen therapy be helpful to your clients?

My way of reflecting a situation is offering a different perspective that can help the client become more aware. I also offer a lot of psychoeducation to help the client understand what they are going through and why they feel the way they do. Some clients find it helpful to have answers and a different perspective to help move forward and break that barrier.

5. What do you think are the most important considerations when looking for a therapist?

The first thing a person should consider when finding a therapist is someone that has a compatible personality. It is important to make sure that you are able to be open and trust your counselor through the process. Being able to work in a team is important in the counseling process. I also believe that it is important to not feel discouraged if one counselor is not an ideal fit for you.

6. What do you hope your clients walk away with?

Not every counseling session is going to leave you walking away happy. However, I hope that you walk away with some understanding of your emotions and that those emotions are completely valid. I also hope you walk away feeling like you took an important step forward to changing your life. In the end, I hope you can say that this experience was beneficial and a great tool for you to reaching a fulfilling life.
